Up and running in 5 minutesAfter you have satisfied the requirements above, there are two basic configurations you will need to do to run JAlbum. Once they are done, all you should have to do is deploy the war file to your Jave EE server and point your browser to a URL like http://localhost:8080/jalbum. Inside of jalbum.war you will need to make 2 small edits to the web.xml file. After you have extracted the web.xml file and opened it in you text editor of choice, look for these context parameters: JAlbum images folder This is the absolute location on the file system where the original image files are found. The files in this directory are never updated in any way. JAlbum does all its work in the "album work directory" You can have as may levels of sub-directories as you want. By organizing which file are in which sub-directories you can create "albums" and "sub-albums" to logically group and display images.This directory should be somewhere on you file system OUTSIDE of Tomcat (or whatever Jave EE server you are using. If JAlbum cannot access this directory for any reason (directory does not exist, no read permission, etc.) The application will not function properly and users will be redirected to an "application unavailable" page. JAlbum work folder This is the absolute location on the file system where JAlbum does all its work. Specifically, the sub-directories under this location hold resized images (thumbnails) of the originals. This directory should be somewhere on you file system OUTSIDE of Tomcat (or whatever Jave EE server you are using. If JAlbum cannot access this directory for any reason (no write permission, etc.) The application will not function properly and users will be redirected to the an "application unavailable" page. |
